WIZARD-OPS

WIZARD-OPS is free map software for flight planning and terrain study. It runs in your web browser on a PC, tablet or phone. There is no account and nothing to install.

Getting started

1. On the start page, pick the layers you want and type a starting point: a place, airport code, grid or lat, lon.
2. Press Start. Drag to pan; scroll, pinch or use + and − to zoom.
3. Click or tap the map for the grid, elevation, weather and nav points at that spot. Right-click, or press and hold on a touch screen, for route points and tools.
4. Press ? for the quick guide and keyboard shortcuts.

Charts and imagery

• FAA VFR sectional, terminal area and IFR charts (US)

Airspace and airports

• FAA airspace, special use airspace and TFRs, plus worldwide airspace and navaids
• About 17,900 airfields worldwide
• Nav points near any spot, with range and bearing
• Links to public live aircraft traffic maps

Planning

• Routes with altitude, speed, timing and fuel per leg, and a 3D view
• MGRS, GARS and latitude / longitude grids
• Search by place, address, airport code or coordinates
• Unit symbols, shapes and text boxes you can drag, resize and recolor
• Holding area and battle position boxes that snap to the MGRS grid
• Landing zone builder and gridded reference graphics (Beta tab)

Saving, printing and offline

• Save missions as KMZ, KML, GPX or JSON on your own device
• Full-screen map in 16:9 or 4:3, saved as a PNG for slides
• Map reference box with center grid, magnetic variation and minimum safe altitude
• Print in an ink-saving gray mode
• Download an area to keep using the map with no connection

Limits

WIZARD-OPS is a planning aid, not a certified navigation or flight planning product. Data comes from public sources and may be incomplete or out of date. Always check current official charts, NOTAMs and weather before flight.

Privacy

• No account and no ads. Missions are saved in your own browser and in files you choose to save. This site has no server code to receive them.
• Viewing or searching an area tells the outside map, elevation, weather and search services about that area, along with your network address. The Network & Privacy card in the app lists each service.
• Anyone using the same browser profile can open your saved missions and offline maps. On a shared device, use Reset in the app and Delete in the Offline tab, or clear the site's data.
